Assessor approval is free and based on evidence.
You do not pay to apply, complete the assessment process or be listed after approval. The decision is based on whether your professional background can be verified and whether it supports the field in which you want to assess CPD courses.
We ask for relevant personal and professional information, which may include your industry area, degree or education history, qualification evidence, employment or practice background and the subjects you can review with confidence.
Approval is limited to an agreed scope. Experience in one field does not automatically qualify an assessor to review unrelated subjects, and additional evidence may be needed before the scope can be extended.

We fact check the evidence before anyone is listed.
The assessment office reviews the claims in the application and the documents supporting them. Qualification, education and industry claims may be checked against the evidence supplied and reasonable public or professional records where they are available.
The purpose is to confirm a practical assessor scope. If the evidence supports one subject area but not another, approval can be limited accordingly. If something cannot be verified, we may ask for more information before reaching a decision.

Approved assessors may be contacted when a course or provider file needs subject review in their field. Any paid work depends on course demand, the match with your approved scope, your availability, conflicts of interest and the type of review required.
Paid work is not guaranteed by assessor approval. If a suitable course becomes available and you are selected, the assessment work and payment will be agreed for that assignment.
A free assessor logo and an optional PDF certificate.
Once you pass the assessment process, you can use the CPD assessor logo with your unique assessor number. The logo and number are part of your approved assessor identity and are provided without charge.
You can also order an assessor certificate for £9.99. This certificate is supplied as a PDF for your professional records. It is optional: you do not need to buy it to remain approved, use the assessor logo, keep your unique number or be considered for assessment work.
Both the logo and certificate must match the assessor scope held on the approval record. They should not be used to suggest approval in subjects that have not been verified.

Your private evidence stays separate from your public assessor profile.
Qualification evidence, professional history and identity information are used to check eligibility and subject scope. Private application documents are not published as part of the assessor listing or shared with providers and learners as public profile information.
Original assessor certificates and identity documents are deleted within 30 days of the decision. A separate verification decision record is retained so questions about the approval can be answered without keeping every original document.
If approved, only the public profile information you have agreed can be shown. You can ask for that public profile to be removed, and update or renewal checks can be used to keep an active assessor record accurate.
The assessor number confirms the approval record. It should be used with the approved logo and scope, while private evidence remains protected under the data protection policy.

Does it cost anything to become a CPD assessor?
No. Applying, completing the assessment process, being listed after approval and using the CPD assessor logo with your unique assessor number are free.
What do I receive after assessor approval?
You receive an approved assessor scope, a unique assessor number and permission to use the CPD assessor logo in line with the logo guidance. Your agreed public profile can also be listed.
Do I need to buy the PDF assessor certificate?
No. The PDF certificate is optional and costs £9.99. Buying it does not affect your approval, assessor number, logo use, public listing or chance of being selected for work.
Is paid assessment work guaranteed?
No. CPD Qualifications™ may offer paid assessment work when a relevant course matches your approved subject scope, experience and availability, but selection depends on demand and is not guaranteed.
